SanDisk Creator Series: Portable Storage Devices Get Cool Color Outfit

Sometimes, looks matter. A lot. Case in point is the all-new SanDisk Creator lineup that SanDisk showcased at CES 2025.

The new series includes mostly existing portable storage devices—portable SSDs, microSDs, SD cards, and more—but in a completely new outfit. It is mainly blue but with a gradient hue of subtle pink, brown, and other colors.

And they look great!

Here are a few portable SSDs in SanDisk’s new Creator lineup, showcased at CES 2025. These include the new versions of the SanDisk Extreme ProSanDisk Desk, and the all-new SanDisk Creator Phone. They all share the same eye-catching color scheme.

It’s worth noting that the Creator series is mostly about design.

On the inside, these new storage devices generally remain the same in terms of performance and connection speeds, which, for portable SSDs, range from USB 3.2 Gen 1 to USB 3.2 Gen 2×2.

The new Creator series includes an entirely new portable drive, the SanDisk Creator Phone SSD. This drive is essentially a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) drive with up to 2TB of internal storage.

As the name suggests, this drive can be used as external storage for a phone. However, what makes it unique is that it can be attached to a phone that supports MagSafe wireless charging.

The SanDisk Creator Phone Portable SSD can attach itself to a MagSafe-enabled phone and stay that way.

Unfortunately, this attachment feature is only for carrying convenience. The phone still needs to connect to the drive via a USB cable before you can transfer data between them. In other words, there’s no wireless link between the two, which is generally not possible considering the Creator Phone SSD has no built-in battery.

Pricing and availability

SanDisk says the new products in the Creator series are available immediately and have pricing similar to the originals. However, the new Creator Phone SSD, available in 1TB and 2TB, will be available later this year, and the pricing will be announced then.
