All things relating to home networking, from network wiring to Wi-Fi and more.
For those running a network with a UniFi Cloud Gateway, here’s some exciting news: Ubiquiti today announces the availability of UniFi Network 10.2. Despite the version number suggesting a minor incremental release, this update includes multiple significant improvements and new features across the board. UniFi Network 10.2: Significant improvements in …
A big part of the questions I get daily is about Wi-Fi router or mesh recommendations for specific situations. Some readers even sent me a detailed sketch of their home or even personal information—you know who you are! Everyone wants to pick up that perfect “Wi-Fi machine”. This post will …
Multi-Gigabit is the term used to describe data traveling at least twice the speed of Gigabit, which means, for a large home, you’ll need a system with multiple 2.5Gbps Multi-Gig network ports and fast Wi-Fi to experience this type of bandwidth. New to the port grades? Here’s the crash course …
At the current retail price of $299 for a 2-pack, the MSI Roamii BE Pro (model MRBE110) is easily among the least expensive tri-band Wi-Fi 7 mesh systems on the market. In real-world testing, that low cost translated into a pleasant surprise. Here’s the bottom line: The MSI Roamii BE Pro …
Multi-Gigabit is the term used to describe data rates at least twice that of Gigabit. To experience it, we generally rely on the Multi-Gig wired network standard, which has multiple port grades ranging from 2.5Gbps to 10Gbps. New to the port grades? Here’s the crash course on Multi-Gig Ethernet! This post features the …
At a glance, Ubiquiti’s new U7 Mesh (model U7-Mesh) access point (AP), announced today, is very much the outdoor version of the U7 Lite. It’s a dual-band Wi-Fi 7 AP made to withstand the elements. Looking more closely, though, it’s a unique mesh unit that can greatly extend the reach …

The gist, however, is that the dBi value of your hardware doesn’t mean much, and you shouldn’t pay much attention to …
This post, the last in my series on ASUS-based Wi-Fi systems, helps you pick the best AiMesh combo to build a network with multi-Gigabit bandwidth, either the entry-level 2.5Gbps or the top-tier 10Gbps. Before continuing, though, consider getting your home wired first—we’re mostly talking about wired networking here, especially if …
