Synology announced today the official launch of its VisualStation VS600HD, designed to turn its well-known Surveillance Station into a true surveillance solution.
The new hardware is an alternative to the Synology Surveillance Station Client desktop application or mobile app. Instead, you can connect the VS600HD to a big-screen TV and turn it on to a real-time monitoring station.
Users can then use a mouse and keyboard to manage the real-time feed or stored recordings.
Synology VS600HD: A TV-wall Solution for the Surveillance Station
Synology says the VS600HD supports up to dual 4K displays and features VESA mounting, meaning you can mount it directly behind most TVs. The device has two HDMI ports and can handle two big screens with up to 50 camera feeds simultaneously—up to 25 cams per screen.
Additionally, you can use multiple VS600HD units—up to four per Surveillance Station—to handle even more cameras.
According to Synology, depending on specific needs, customizable access to camera controls, maps, previous recordings, and more can be enabled based on per-user permission to allow for faster security incident response.

Availability and pricing
At the gist of it, the Synology VisualStation VS600HD simplifies surveillance management by removing the need for a computer for real-time monitoring and data management.
Synology says the VS600HD is compatible with Surveillance Station 9.1.2. It's slated to be available starting today with the suggested retail price of $549.99. While that's not cheap, it's less expensive than using a computer for the job. If you're a hardcore Surveillance Station user with many cameras, the VS600HD is worth the investment.
$550 is a steep price tag for the home user. I wish they would make an iOS or android app that could work with Apple TV or android tv for the home user. But that would compete with the sales of this device.
Yeap. I think it’s only applicable for those with lots of cameras.
